Claiming Your Femininity

There is so much information on the internet about femininity and not enough embodiment. We hear it all the time — “step into your feminine essence”. But what does that really mean? What does that look like? What does that FEEL like?

Like many women, I spent many years running on “masculine mode” and burning myself out. I was deeply disconnected from my feminine power, and I was tired of disregarding my desire to soften and surrender. We live in a society where resting is seen as being lazy and we get shamed for having days off. Constant productivity is praised while taking a day off to catch up on sleep and deep relaxation is looked down upon.

We burn ourselves out working for big corporations and corrupt systems that don’t care if you were to die tomorrow. It’s the sad and hard truth. We disregard our families, our loved ones, and our own health because “hustling” is the right thing to do in our current culture.

Don’t get me wrong — having big goals, visions, and ambitions is amazing. Placing your energy in creative pursuits is fun and will light your soul on fire. I don’t think claiming your femininity is about repressing your ambitions; it’s about placing your energy in the ambitions that will leave you feeling inspired and excited about life. When we are deeply in tune with our bodies and our feelings, we can make better choices about how we live our lives and where we place our energy. Femininity is being put in a limiting box nowadays and it’s become more of an aesthetic than it is an energy. We intellectualize what it means to be feminine but we aren’t actually tapping into the energy itself. As women we can be powerful, ambitious, and strong while still being compassionate, nurturing, and soft. Feminine energy isn’t one size fits all. There’s so many ways to express your femininity. The real question is, what does femininity feel like for YOU? How do you express it?
